GRADING - You will be evaluated in the following areas:
50% Major assessment grades
40% Minor assessment grades
5% Practice Activities in and out of class that allow you to practice the concepts we address in the classroom.
5% Participation Includes following classroom procedures, using art supplies and tools appropriately, completing work on time (work ethic!), clean up and demonstrating respect for others.
Performance on art projects includes craftsmanship, creativity & originality (using your own ideas), demonstrating an understanding of the objectives from the rubric and degree of completion.
Work Habits include following the classroom procedures, using art supplies and tools appropriately, completing work on time and respecting others.
HOW OUR CLASSROOM RUNS:
These policies and procedures are important and very easy to follow. By doing so, you will achieve success and make it enjoyable for you and others. Other rules will apply based on individual lessons & activities going on in the Art room throughout the quarter.
1. Arrive to class on time, put your things down, put on a smock, get your materials out and begin working. You do not need to wait for the bell to ring to begin. Treat this class like a lab class.
2. Please don’t wander around the room. Stay at your seat unless you need something in particular.
3. Respect and use all art supplies appropriately—abuse of art supplies will not be tolerated. Return all supplies to their designated locations. Do not take any art supplies out of the classroom.
4. Do not ask to leave the classroom unless it is an emergency. Use the restroom before you arrive to class. Visits to other teachers, guidance, etc. are granted ONLY if you have a pass from that individual.
6. Do not touch, mark or otherwise harm the art work of another student – EVER!
7. Work productively during class time. Art projects should reflect your greatest effort!
8. When cleaning up at the end of class, follow all specified clean-up procedures we have established and make sure that you have put back all materials and cleaned your work space properly.
9. As always, treat the teacher, your classmates, and yourself with respect. Your willingness to be respectful, responsible, fair, trustworthy, and cooperative will be appreciated and are very important to the success of our class.
Communication:
If there is anything that you think I may need to know, please don’t hesitate to call or email me. I cannot help if I don’t know a situation exists. Thank you in advance!
Remember, your success is in your hands - this is YOUR journey!
